The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) uses S4D to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) like gender equality, good health and quality education. This toolkit provides access to resources that have been developed and used by GIZ and partners in different countries all over the world.
The Global S4D Community is a new open membership offer for practitioners and partners that combines an online social intranet - purpose built by our partners at HumHub - and a variety of offline learning and knowledge exchange activities. The Community is free to access, and welcomes practitioners of all backgrounds, ranging from seasoned S4D trainers, instructors, and multipliers to enthusiastic newcomers who share an unwavering commitment to drive positive change through sports.

After more than a decade of implementing Sport for Development on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the time has come to mark the end of an extraordinary chapter. With the conclusion of both the global and regional programme, we are taking a moment to reflect, to appreciate—and to look ahead.
Looking back at the past years of the Sport for Development (S4D) programme, one of the most inspiring journeys in Latin America has been that of the Youth Ambassadors of Sport. What began as a small call soon grew into a vibrant network of 24 young leaders (42% women) from six countries—Colombia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Chile—who today use sport as a tool for inclusion, peacebuilding, and community participation.
With over 60% of its population under the age of 30, Pakistan has one of the youngest demographics in the world. This youth majority, however, continues to face long-standing challenges. Many lack sufficient access to quality education, professional training, and essential life skills, which limits their opportunities for social and economic mobility.
