COUNTRY OVERVIEW


The practice of sports has historically been a tool to enable spaces for social cohesion and integration. Therefore, it becomes an important ally to build bridges and to develop joint actions for the mental well-being and physical health of the Ecuadorian population.

Since 2020, the Ministry of Sport of Ecuador, together with the GIZ’s Sector Programme Sport for Development and the SI Frontera Program, and with the support of the European Union, have implemented learning processes within the framework of the "Sport with Principles" method. Moreover, several strategies that contribute to mitigating the consequences of the COVID-19 health crisis.

In Ecuador, workshops for female and male leaders, teachers and trainers will continue to focus on violence prevention and conflict resolution, with a strong emphasis on young people and migrants. The training process integrated previous experiences of cooperation between Colombia and Paraguay, as well as the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The documents developed in Colombia were adapted to the context and use in Ecuador.
