Welcome to our Country Collection!
From 2012 to 2025, German development cooperation implemented Sport for Development (S4D) projects and programmes in numerous countries across the globe, working closely with a wide range of local and international partner organisations. Over time, a wealth of S4D knowledge and resources has been developed — adapted to different countries, languages, sports codes, and thematic priorities. Working with athletes meant much more than simply developing sporting talent. The National Secretariat of Sport, reporting directly to the Presidency of the Republic of Paraguay, cooperated with the Sports for Development Sector Program to provide tools that strengthened social capital and citizen coexistence through sport.
The practice of sport offered opportunities to build bonds of respect and solidarity, promote discipline and adherence to rules, encourage healthy competition, and support the responsible exercise of citizenship.
The training and consolidation of the “Sports with Principles” strategy enabled its replication at the national level, including the provision of resources, implementation of educational and sporting activities, and promotion of community-based actions.
In Paraguay, workshops for community leaders, teachers and coaches focused on violence prevention and conflict resolution. The learning process was developed based on the practical experience of the National Secretariat of Sport and its local partners, ensuring strong contextual relevance and ownership.
The documents developed in Colombia were adapted to the context and use in Paraguay.
We invite you to have a look at the following teaching and learning material, which was created by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and our partner organizations in Paraguay.
